Swirls around a circle, round and round we go! A fun flower to crochet in two steps: the center circle, then the six swirls around that.

sc (UK dc)
Round 1 - Center Circle: ch 2, 6 sc into 2nd ch from hook, ss into 1st sc to join. SM this ss as we make our last stitch into it at the end of Round 2. The stitch marker also helps you distinguish between the center circle and the swirls :)
Round 2 - Swirls: *ch 3, 8 sc into 2nd ch from hook, working your 1st 4 sc under the top two loops of that ch, and then, moving around our swirl, working your other 4 sts under the bottom loop of that ch.
You'll have to move the whole flower about a bit to do each swirly petal but it all works out beautifully!
Oh, and I pass my yarn under my work as I move the piece to crochet under the bottom loop, but passing the yarn in front works well too!
Now ss into 1st sc of your swirl to join; ch 3, ss down into next st of center circle - which is easy to spot, it's simply the next free stitch you can see.*
Repeat from * to * 5 times, working your final ss into the joining ss from Round 1, which I stitch marked earlier.
Tie off; weave this end into the back of the base of the 1st swirl and around the center to secure.
